LIVE OAK-Gilbert Roy Edge, 101, died on Tuesday, May 10, 2011, at Bladen County Hospital. He was born in Bladen County on Nov 14, 1909 to Vander and Lee Edge.
Final rites will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 13, 2011 at Suggs Grove Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday, May 12 from 6:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. at the church. Bladen-Gaskins Funeral of Elizabethtown is handling the arrangements.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Jean Tew and Marlene Smith; half brother, Sam Edge; half sister, Retha Arnold; 3 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
