Emerline Elizabeth "Emma" Harp was the daughter of Alfred Pleasant and Rebecca Dozier (West) Harp. She was born on October 24, 1860, in Upson County, Georgia. She married James Absolom Means on November 24, 1880. Together they had 1 daughter and 2 sons. She passed away at her home in Atlanta on May 21, 1936 and was buried at the West View Cemetery in Atlanta, Georgia. She was a loyal and well loved employee for many years at the Colonial Baking Company in Atlanta.

Obituary:
Mrs. Emma E. Means died Thursday morning, May 21, 1936, at her residence, 250 Moreland Avenue, N.E. She is survived by a daughter, Miss Essie Mae Means; two sons, Avery William and Omar Harp Means, of Oakland, California; a sister, Mrs. Addie Pritchett, Yatesville, Georgia, and two grandchildren, Mrs. U.M. Baker, Jr and Avery Means. Rev. W.A. Shelton will conduct the funeral service at 2:00 PM on Friday, May 22, 1936, from Spring Hill Chapel. Burial will be in West View Cemetery in Atlanta, Georgia.
