Died at age 33, he was found dead in his bed by his father, John, at his home near Newton. Death was the result of a heart attack. He helped to operate the homestead farm with his father, and was also a sand and gravel dealer for the Town of Meeme. He organized the Schwartz Sand and Crushed Gravel Supply Company.
Survivors included his father, two sisters, Mrs. Willard (Flora) Herzog of Sheboygan, and Mrs. Harvey (Lorena) Wagner of Millersville; four brothers, Arthur of Sheboygan, Oliver and Roland of Howards Grove and Allen of Kiel.
His mother, a brother, Gerhard, and one sister, Lillian, preceded him in death.
