John Michael "Mike" Kozar, 44, died May 14, 2011, after fighting cancer for five years.
He is survived by his loving wife, Ann Tracey Tucker Kozar, with whom he moved from Annandale, VA to Safety Harbor, Florida, in 2010, by his parents, John and Millie Avington Kozar, of Arlington, VA and by his sister, Miriam Kozar Clinton; niece, Katlyn Ann Clinton and nephew Andrew Joseph (AJ) Clinton, all of Burke, Virginia. Also, by several aunts, uncles, and cousins in Maryland and in West Virginia.
Mike Kozar graduated from St. Ann's, Yorktown High School, and Northern Virginia Community College.
Most of his career was spent as service manager for Joyce Motors in Arlington. He was also a member of the International Association of Approved Basketball Officials, refereeing for the Virginia High School League and for the Catholic Youth Organization. He was an avid NASCAR fan and a loyal supporter of the Redskins, Capitals, and Nationals.
The family will receive visitors at the Murphy Funeral Home, 4510 Wilson Blvd., Arlington, VA from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 18. Mass of the Resurrection will be held at St. Ann's Catholic Church, 5300 N. 10th St., Arlington, VA at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 19.
Interment will take place at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Weston, West Virginia, at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 20.
