OBITUARY - Mrs. Samuel Gruber

passing of Mrs. Gruber
Aged Oregon Resident Called from life Tuesday Morning
Mrs. Samuel Gruber residing on West Washington Street passed away early
Tuesday morning, following a brief illness.
Susan Katherine Wissinger was born near Hagerstown, Maryland, Oct. 17,
1853 and on Sept. 17, 1877 she was united in marriage to Samuel Gruber.
In 1883 they came west, making their home on a farm near Oregon, and have
since resided in this section.
To Mr. and Mrs. Gruber were born nine children, six of whom survive and
are, Harvey, Garfield, and Arthur of Oregon, Elmer of Rockford, Mrs.
Bessie Steffa and Mrs. Minnie Sudbury of Oregon. The aged husband and
father, 22 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren also survive.
Surviving brothers and sisters are Scott Wissinger and Mrs. Ella Baker of
Oregon, Jacob Wissinger, Fall City, Nebraska, Mrs. Drussie Baker,
Boonsboro, Md., and Joseph Wissinger, Williamsport, Md., and Samuel
Wissinger, a resident of the state of Ohio.
Mrs. Gruber had been a member of the Brethren church for over 50 years,
having joined the church in her native state.
Funeral services will be held from the late home today at one o'clock and
from the Church of the Brethren at Mount Morris at 2 o'clock in charge of
Rev. McCune, pastor of the Mount Morris church. Burial will be made in
the Silver Creek Cemetery
