Obituary from the Rockemann family history book.
Fred D. Rockemann, 50, passed away at his home in Brock at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 27, the news of his passing came as a great shock to his many friends throughout the community for he had been ill only a day. Death was caused by a heart attack.
He had been at work only a few days before his passing and was in good spirits and apparently good health. He will be greatly missed by all, especially the members of his family, to whom sympathy is extended in their time of bereavement.
Fred D. Rockemann was born Jan. 28, 1891 on a farm south of Johnson, son of Chris and Lydia Rockemann. Here he grew to manhood and on May 8, 1912 was united in marriage to Miss Anna Fass at a Lutheran Church in the southwest part of the county. To this union eight children were born, two of whom preceded their father in death. A baby daughter, who died in infancy, and Elvera, wife of Charlie Green, died on July 8, 1938. During their years of married life Mr. and Mrs. Rockemann had resided at Table Rock and Elk Creek before moving to Brock some years ago. He had been employed for some time on WPA and was known as a good and honest worker. Besides his loving wife he leaves children; Ernest of Omaha, Mrs. Bill Platte of Peru. Velma of Omaha, Esther, Luetta, and Glen at home, 5 grandchildren, three brothers; Chris of Humboldt, Bill of Blue Springs, Louie of Humboldt, and one sister, Mrs. Frank Sasse of Athol, Kansas.
Services were held at 1:00p.m. Wednesday at Casey and Tim Funeral Home in Auburn. The service was conducted by Rev. William Fruehling, the Pastor of Martin Luther Church south of Johnson. Pallbearers were nephews: Virgil Gerald, Edward, Delmar Rockemann and Edwin and George Stutheit. Interment was at Sheridan Cemetery.
Other notes in book: Fred and Anna began their married life living in the Long Branch area, remained there til 1915. Both Ernest and Elvera were baptized at St. James Church. In 1929 Fred and family lost their home when it burned down. For a period of time the family split up and lived in other homes. At time of Fred's death his youngest child, Glen, was 11 years old and Luetta was 14. Four years later Luetta married a Merchant Marine Paul Ogg, April 23, 1945.

I want to express my thanks for the family history work that Dolores Hahn has done over the years, and the time she has spent in helping her fellow descendants find their family members, because I have benefitted from her help many times. [Steve Lake, 21Jun2017]
