She was a 1928 graduate of the Miltonvale Wesleyan College. Doris and Archie Wayne Yowell were united in marriage on August 27, 1929 in Miltonvale. Doris was a homemaker and she also was a cook at the Ottawa County Health Center, Minneapolis. She was a member of the Lamar and Delphos Methodist Churches. Doris lived in the Lamar and Delphos areas before moving to Good Samaritan Society – Minneapolis on December 17, 2009.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years in 1981; her parents; her brothers George and Everett Shroyer; her sisters Lavina Stites and Gladys Heald; her daughter– in– law Jo Ann (Klein) Yowell; and a granddaughter Janelle Yowell.
Survivors include her son Dr. Donald Yowell and his wife Billye; her grandchildren Ann Ballinger, Doni and Fred Michels, and Dr. Glenn and Nancy Yowell; four step-grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 6 step-great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 2 P.M., Tuesday at Wilson Family Funeral Home, Minneapolis, with the Rev. Rex Fuller officiating. Burial will be in Hall Cemetery, rural Delphos.
Visitation will be from 2 P.M. to 7 P.M. Monday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M. The casket will remain closed.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Delphos United Methodist Church or the Good Samaritan Society – Minneapolis.
