Solomon was the son of William and Jane Drew. Solomon was baptized on 25 Feb 1781 in Helston.

Solomon married Elizabeth (?) Drew (born c.1786). She was also born in England. In the 1850 U.S. Census, Solomon and Elizabeth were living in Washington, DC, and he had no occupation. Solomon had $20,000 worth of real estate in 1850.

According to Columbus' daughter, his parents were born in Cornwall, England, and came to America early in the 19th century. Columbus was born in Alexandria, VA, and grew up in Washington, DC. Columbus married Marietta Hume (Robertson) Drew (1822-1878) on 26 Nov 1840 in Washington, DC. Columbus and Marietta moved to Jacksonville, Florida. Marietta is #56707716.

"A Child of Columbus" Drew is buried with Solomon Drew's grandson, Edward A. Smith, in R39/253. The child was originally buried in St. John's Cemetery, but was removed and interred in Congressional Cemetery on 18 Oct 1855.
