Joan K. Hodson, 53, of 205 11th Ave. E. died July 27, 1999, at the Mahaska County Hospital in Oskaloosa.

She was born to Aca and Marcella Wolfe Malloy. She married Lonnie Stein; later they divorced. She married Rick Hodson on Oct. 11, 1997.

She graduated from the Oskaloosa High School in 1964. After high school, she worked for Born Insurance of Oskaloosa. She then began working for the Christian Opportunity Center in Pella, and later transferred to the Christian Opportunity Center in Oskaloosa, where she worked as the office coordinator.

She is survived by her husband; a daughter, Carrie Stein of Oskaloosa; a son, Eric Stein of What Cheer; a stepson, Brent Hodson of Springfield, MO; a stepdaughter, Heather Chamberlin of Lovilia; two step-grandchildren; two brothers, Jerry Malloy of Ottumwa, Kentucky, and Dale Malloy of Oskaloosa; and five sisters, Barbara Hastings of Norway, IA, Phyllis Allgood of Mundelein, Illinois, Jean DeJong of Leighton, (IA), Marcia Michelson of Lauderdale, Florida, and Kathy Sinclaire of Newton.

She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant sister, Joann Malloy; and three brothers Kenneth, Jack and Donald Malloy.

The service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa. Burial will be in Garrett Cemetery near Delta. Visitation will be open Friday with the he family present from 6:30-8 p.m. at the funeral chapel. Memorials may be made to Special Olympics.
