OBITUARY: West Carroll Gazette, 1 Aug 1930
Richard T. May, aged 74 years, a prominent citzen of the Forest community for a number of years, died Saturday, July 12, after a long and protracted illness."Uncle Bud" as he was affectionally called by his many friends was born in Mississippi, Sept. 20, 1855. Since moving to West Carroll, he has made many friends. In 1921, God saw fit to take away the mother of his nine children and it was with loving care that he guided them in the paths that made them worthy citizens. They follow: Mrs. Mattie Tullos of Florida; Mrs. Hattie Byrd of Mississippi; Mrs. Vergie Keen of Forest; Charlie, Berry, Henry, Lela, Austin, and Cecil May of Forest. They were all at his bedside when the end came. He was laid to rest in the Forest cemetery, Sunday.

We wish to express our sincere thanks and appreciation to our many friends and neighbors for tender words, loving sympathy and constant help during the long illness and death of our dear father, Richard T. May. And especially do we thank the ever faithful Dr. Dollerhide for his untiring services to the end. The Children.
