Glenn Clayton Collette, 83, of Idaho Falls, died at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center of causes incident to age. Glenn was born in Mountain Home, Idaho, the eldest of three boys born to Edgar Ross and Lucy LaVern Thompson Collet. When he was two years old the family moved to Idaho Falls, where he attended Eagle Rock Elementary School, Clair E. Gale Junior High, and then graduated from Idaho Falls High School. As a young boy he spent many summers in West Yellowstone, where his mother owned a café and his father owned a barbershop. Glenn also enjoyed close association with family in Clarkston, Utah, during those years. In high school he was active in the Thespian Club and made many friends, whose association he enjoyed throughout his life. After high school he attended Syracuse University in New York, Biarritz Army University in France, and graduated from Woodbury Business College in Los Angeles. He served as a Sergeant in the Army during World War II.

From 1946-1948 Glenn served full-time mission in the Swiss/Austrian Mission, where he met his future sweetheart, Emma Esther Cziep, who was also serving a mission. Later Emmy emigrated to Canada and they renewed their acquaintance. They were married May 24, 1949, in
the Cardston Alberta Temple. They made their home in Idaho Falls, where he worked two years for Idaho Cold Storage, then took a job as District Office Manager for Simplot Soilbuilders for 35 years. He retired 20 years ago.

An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day
Saints and charter member of the 17th/Mountain View Ward, he served in
the Bishopric, on the Stake High Council, as Scoutmaster, as a Temple
Worker, and in various other callings throughout the years, particularly with the youth in the MIA. The friendships made in this ward deepened through the years and have been an important part of his life. He and Emmy served two full-time missions, one to Vienna, Austria, from 1986-1987, and the other to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, from 1989-1990. Glenn's testimony was one of his most precious possessions.

A man of many hobbies, Glenn enjoyed gardening, photography,
stamp and coin collecting, traveling, gladiolus farming, reading (especially Louis L'Amour books), history and music. Glenn never met a hobby he didn't like. However, his greatest joy in life came from spending time with Emmy and his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He always had a ready smile and his greatest attribute was his infectious, joyful personality. Glenn was loved by everyone and will be sorely missed by family and friends alike.
