Statesboro - W.R. "Reg" Newsome, 82, died Wednesday at Bulloch Memorial Hospital in Statesboro. He was a native of Bulloch County and lived in Statesboro. He was a member of Thompson Pasture Hunting Club and Statesboro First Baptist Church. He was a retired farmer.

Surviving are four sons, Thomas R. Newsome and James A. Newsome, both of Statesboro, Joel Newsome of Smyrna and Jackie Newsome of Miami, Fla.; three sisters, Mrs. Nita Brown and Mrs. Naomi Mikell, both of Statesboro, and Mrs. Ava Larrimore of Columbia, S.C.; and four grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. today at Statesboro First Baptist Church, with burial in Eastside Cemetery. Smith-Tillman Mortuary of Statesboro is in charge.
