Gladys A. Miller, 84, Rice Lake, Wis., died Thursday, Nov. 15, 2001, at Lakeview Medical Center , Rice Lake.
She was born September 30, 1917, to Armstrum and Emma (Tollefson) Javner at Cameron, Wis., where she grew up and received her education. As a young lady she worked as a housekeeper for the Herman Richter family.
In 1935 she married Frank Holmes at Chetek, Wis. Besides being a homemaker, she worked for Felstad's Grocery Store in Cameron and later worked as a factory laborer for a period of time in Chetek.
Following the death of her first husband, she married Sever Miller on September 15, 1973, at Rice Lake and became a homemaker.
She enjoyed dancing, doing handiwork, and doing different types of craftwork.
Surviving are her husband, Sever; a son, Linferd (Betty) Holmes of Minneapolis, Minn.; five grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; three step-sons, Larry (Francine) and Richard (Elsie) Miller, both of Rice Lake, and Don (Lucy) Miller of Chicago, Ill.; 16 step-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Adeline (Ernie) Vreeland of Rice Lake.
She was preceded in death by her first husband; a son, Wallace Holmes; and three step-sons, Gary, Dewayne and Charles Miller.
Services were held Monday, Nov. 19, from the Jarocki Funeral Chapel in Rice Lake, Rev. Don Berry officiating, with interment at Pine Grove Cemetery in Cameron.

Arrangements were with Jarocki Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Rice Lake.
