According to Shenandoah County Marriage Records from the Shenandoah County vagenweb site, Garnett married on October 14, 1915 to Laura Mabel Keister, daughter of Ernest and Annie Keister. They had one son, Ernest Keister Updike born Nov 20, 1916 and died Apr 6, 2000 in Helen, White County, GA.
Garnett made his living as a carpenter in Warren County, VA.
On Feb 4, 1942, Garnett married Mamie B. Johnson. He died and is buried in his second wife's family cemetery which I have named the Updike-Johnson Cemetery on Buck Mountain Road next to the Hidden Springs Senior Living facility.
