HAYMOND, CREED, lawyer, state senator, was born April 22, 1836 in Beverly, Va. He served as chairman of the code commission of California; and with his associate prepared the first complete code that was adopted by any state in the Union. He was a member for two terms of the state senate of California.

Creed HAYMOND was born April 22, 1836 Beverly, WV, son of Calder and Martha (WILSON) Haymond, in 1852 at age sixteen he crossed the Great Plains heading for Sierra Nevada Range in California, by 1859 he was a lawyer, was Chairman of the Code Commission for the State of California, the first complete code of laws ever adopted by any State in the Union or any English speaking people, Sacremento District State Senator, Col. 1st Artillery Regiment, National Guard, in 1860 was Captain of the Sierra Greys against the Indians of Nevada after the Pyramid Lake Massacre, 1882:railroad, m Alice CRAWFORD [BWp354,MX401] page 123 Source:
