Mrs. David Hart of Newton died unexpectedly in Riley's Hospital, Meridian, Sunday night, July 22, 1968, after being moved there from the local hospital. She had been ill about three days. She was born in Newton Dec. 7, 1903, her parents being the late Ida Hale and John Robert Woodham. She was a member of the Newton Christian Church. Mr. and Mrs. Hart returned to Newton four years ago to live after their retirement from the bakery at Sanaterium.
Mrs. Mabel Woodham Hart leaves in addition to her husband, one brother Powell A. Woodham of Newton; two sisters, Mrs. Corree Holliday of Haynesville, La., and Mrs. Pearl Watkins of Memphis, Tenn.; a half sister, Mrs. Ruth Holmes of Jackson; her stepmother Mrs. Maymie Woodham of Newton, and a number of nephews and nieces.
Charles M. Pierce, minister of the Christian Church, was assisted in the funeral rites at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 23, at Hutson's Chapel by the Rev. W. W. Watkins, Methodist pastor. Burial followed in the Knights of Pythias Cemetery.
John T. Thrash, A. L. Billy Brantley, Robert and Mike Holmes, H. B. McCoy and Hewey Holmes served as active pallbearers.
