TANNER, ALBERT J., age 74, of 215 33rd Street, SW Canton, passed away early Wednesday morning in Massillon City Hospital after an illness of nine months. He was born in Leigh-on-the-Sea, England, and had been a resident of this vicinity for 40 years. He was a carpenter and mason contractor for Tanner Construction Co. which he owned. He was a member of North Industry Christian Church, William McKinley Lodge #431, F&AM, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Canton, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #233, and he was an active bowler and golfer. Preceded in death by his first wife, Mrs. Ruth D. Tanner in 1960, survived by his widow, Mrs. Goldie (Frank) Tanner of the home; two daughters, Donna and Pauline; two sons, Robert and Donald "Cork"; one step-son, Ronald, two sisters, Lillian and Minnie; two brothers, Bruce and Walter; eight grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and two step-granddaughters. Services will be conducted Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Gordon Funeral Home in East Sparta with Pastor Rod Huron and Pastor Wayne Yeager, officiating. Interment in Melscheimer Cemetery. Friends may call Friday 2-4 and 7-9 McKinley Lodge #431. F&AM will hold services at 6:45 p.m. Friday at the funeral Home. (Gordon 866-9271)
