Andrew M. Keesey, eighty-one, a tipstaff in the Court House for fifteen years, died at his home, 412 South Prince street, this city, at 9:50 o'clock this morning after failing health of several years. He was a son of the late Conrad and Fanny Deitrich Keesey, and was educated in public schools of Lancaster. He was a former member of the police force and served as constable of the Fourth Ward for many years, working out of the office of the late Alderman Spurrier. He was a member of the Memorial Presbyterian Church, this city, and was an active Republican all his life. About twenty-seven years ago Keesey, then a constable, figured in the news when he was short by Albert Langer of New York, whom he had arrested here for stealing liquor. The constable was pronounced dead by local physician but was revived by Alderman Spurrier. In November, 1934, Langer visited Keesey in this city while enroute to California after serving many years in prison. He is survived by one daughter, Elsie, wife of Milton Maynard, this city, also five grandchildren: Alice Jane Maynard, Anna Lillian wife of Melvin Denlinger, this city; Miriam I., Andrew E., and Milton, Jr., all of this city; also one brother, Harry Keesey, of Paoli. (Lancaster New Era - Jan 21, 1937)
