Rachel (Connely) Evans was the daughter of William and Elizabeth (Allender) Connely, early pioneers of Venango County.

As the family were strict Methodists, her middle name Hemphill was in honor of the head of the Erie District of the Methodist Episcopal Church at the time she was born, Andrew Hemphill.

No one knows the exact whereabouts of Rachel's burial but best guess would be Pioneer Cemetery in Franklin, PA. At least one child is buried there, her mother is buried there, and she passed away before any other known cemetery existed in Franklin.
