Anna Urbain was born on May 24, 1859 near Bankston, Iowa. She was the daughter of Quirin Urbain and Mary Kirby. Anna moved with her parents to Placid, Iowa before 1870.

Anna married Peter L. Clancy on October 19, 1886 in St. John's Catholic Church in Placid, Iowa. After they were married, they farmed near Cascade, Iowa until 1905 when they moved to a farm near Sanborn, North Dakota. Between 1920 and 1924, they moved to Valley City, North Dakota.

Peter and Anna had nine children - Bartholomew Charles, Mary Ida, Joseph Michael, Bridget Elizabeth, John Edward, Margaret Veronica, Thomas Vincent, Peter Legorie, and James Anthony Clancy.

Annie died on April 20, 1946 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth McCallister, near Valley City, North Dakota.
