Adolph Fredrick HABBE was baptized in Fagerhult Parish, Kalmar Län, Sweden, the son of Georg Henric Habbe & Sara Catherine Wennerström. He married Lena Stina JOHNSON in Sweden and had the following children, all born in Sweden:
Adolf Albin, Anna Charlotta, Mathilda Sophia, Emma Christine, Albertine Caroline, Helena Gustafva, and Theodolinda Joseph G. The family was given permission to emigrate on 23 May 1868 and would have arrived in the U.S.A. about three or four weeks later. All of the children came to America with their parents.
Adolph became a naturaized citizen on 31 Oct 1877. The family lived and farmed in Scandinavia Township for their entire life and their name is included on the monument dedicated to the early settlers of the area.
