Spanish War Veteran Succumbs to Heart Attack at Home of Sister

Gilbert G. Stiles of 513 Turner St., a Spanish-American War Veteran, died suddenly at 2:13 a.m. Friday after suffering a heart attack at the home of his sister-in-law Dr. Maude E. Bleakney of Beaver, where he had been visiting for the past two weeks.

He was born in Allentown, the son of the late John and Emma Stiles. He was a graduate of Lehigh University. At one time he he was a member of Troop B of the Pennsylvania State Police and was detailed to accompany Governor Tener on his tour of inspection of State work.

Surviving are his widow, Bessie Stiles, formerly of Pittsburgh; and two sisters, Mrs. Berdie Jones of Philadelphia, and Mrs. Sadie Brader of Bethlehem. He was employed by the Reading railroad for many years.

Spanish-American War Army veteran. Served as a Private with the Troop E First Regiment U.S. Cavalry.
