Cathrine "Cathy" Cross, 67, Carthage, MO, passed away Monday, Oct. 11, 2010 at McCune-Brooks Regional Hospital, Carthage, MO after a sudden illness. Catherine Ann Craig was born January 31, 1943 the daughter of Edwin Craig and Mary McClease Craig. She attended public schools in Monticello, Iowa and was a 1961 graduate of Monticello High School. She married Roger Duane Cross on March 5, 1960 in Monticello, IA; he preceded her in death on September 19, 2010. Cathy began working as a volunteer for the Cerebral Palsy Center, Carthage, and then became the director of the Tri-County Cerebral Palsy Centers covering Neosho, Carthage, Joplin and Webb City. She devoted 40 years of her life working with the children of the Tri-County area. Cathy was active in the Carthage and Joplin United Way and was a active member of th St. Ann's Catholic Church, Carthage. Survivors include a daughter, Sharon Cross, Carthage, and a son, Jeff (Sonia) Cross, Kimberling City, MO; a brother, Dr. Robert (Rebecca) Durst, Rapid City, SD; two grandsons, Seth Cross and Adam Cross; several nieces, nephews and great nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Roger, and her stepfather, Robert Durst. Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 AM, Thursday, Oct. 14, 2010 at St. Ann's Catholic Church followed by a memorial funeral mass at 11:00 AM. Fr. Bill Hodgson will officiate. Memorial gifts are suggested to the Tri-County Cerebral Palsy Center, Webb City, MO or St. Ann's Catholic School in care of Knell, Mortuary.
