Pleasant and his brother, William Drinkard enlisted in the Company B, of the First Alabama, Mississippi, and Tennessee Infantry. They were captured in or near Island Number 10. They are listed in the Confederate Prisoner of War Register, published by the National Archives. They were prisoners of war at Camp Randall in Madison, Wisconsin, and both died in May 1862.
