Elizabeth married William H. Gratehouse/Greathouse on November 9, 1845 in White County, Illinois. Over the years the spelling of their name changed from Gratehouse to Greathouse. The three burials in Cariens all use the Gratehouse spelling on their stones as do the stones of William's parents, Hiram and Lydia. William's name was spelled Greathouse on their marriage record. William and Elizabeth had at least eight children:
