GEORGE C. HAAS DIES AT HOME; RITES WEDNESDAY
George C. Haas, sixty-four, died about 6 o'clock this morning at the family home, 58 Water street, following a three months' illness. Born in Punxsutawney, Pa., Oct. 12, 1883, Mr. Haas had lived in Salamanca since 1923. He had been employed as a foreman in the city's water and light department until his retirement in 1943.
Surviving are two sons, George L. Haas of 26 South Main street, and Harry Haas of 245 Academy street; two daughters, Mrs. Howard Brown of 58 Water street, and Mrs. Marshall Abbey of 45 Water street; a brother, Clair Haas of Brookville, Pa., seven sisters, Mrs. Lyda Merrick of Williamsport,Pa., Mrs. Minnie Black, Mrs. Vida Walker, Mrs. Lillian Foose, all of Punxsutawney, Mrs. Irene King of DuBois, Pa., Mrs. Twila Williams of Kittanning and Mrs. Britta of Tampa, Fla., and several grandchildren.
The body was removed to the McKenna funeral home, 113 Broad street, and was to be taken later today to the family home.
Funeral services will be held at the family home Wednesday at 2 p.m. with burial in the family plot in Wildwood cemetery. The Rev. I. Russell Clark will officiate.
Mr. Haas also enjoyed woodworking.
