Mrs. Mary Barnard Dies at Son's Home
Mrs. Mary Barnard, 80, mother of Charles A. Barnard, 210 E. New York Ave., died Tuesday at 11:40 a.m. at Mercy Hospital following a lingering illness. She had been living with her son since Aug. 16, 1955.
The former Mary Sommers, she was born Feb. 16, 1875, in Town of Brillion. She married Jan. 8, 1902, at Hilbert to Samuel H. Barnard, who preceded her in death in 1908.
Her husband practices law in Brillion, and following his death she continued to live there until moving to Oshkosh last year. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Brillion, and Christian Mother's Society of the church.
Surviving besides the one son, Charles, is one daughter, Mrs. A. A. Hartenberg, Madison; two brothers, Michael Sommers, Forest Junction, and John Sommers, Rt. 2, Hilbert; three sisters, Mrs. Charles Schaeffer, Rt. 2, Hilbert, Mrs. Margaret Arns, Forest Junction, and Mrs. Edward Jansch, Rt. 3, Kaukauna; and five grandchildren.
Services will be held Friday at 9 a.m. at Luecker Funeral Home, Brillion, and 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church there, with Rev. Raymond Schauer officiating. Burial will be in the Brillion Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 p.m. on Thursday until the hour of services. The rosary will be recited Thursday at 7 p.m. at the church and 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
