US Congressman. He moved with his parents to Kentucky in 1832, studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1850 and commenced to practice law in Covington, Kentucky. He was attorney for the ninth judicial district of Kentucky, and judge of the ninth judicial circuit. In 1871, he was elected as a Democrat to the Forty-second and Forty-third Congresses, serving until 1875. After his congressional term, he served as judge of the twelfth judicial circuit of Kentucky, and practiced law until his death at age 72.
