Lori wanted to be a model and a writer. She was taking classes at Santa Barbara City College and attending modeling school at the time of her death. She grew up in a house on Cold Springs Road and attended Santa Barbara High School. Lori wrote poetry and listened to music in a playhouse in the backyard. She also made jewelry and sewed. She loved to ride her horse "Dutchess," hike in the mountains and go to the beach. Lori would have been 44 years old this year. Lori had been renting a cottage behind a house on Tabor Lane for only five weeks when she decided to move back home. She took her sewing machine and several boxes back the first week in March, 1977. The rest of her belongings would soon follow. On Friday, March 4, 1977, Lori went to the bar at the El Encanto with her landlord and met up with a boyfriend. Then she spent Saturday with another friend and went out to brunch on Sunday. The last time anyone spoke to Lori was 7 p.m. Sunday. Her mother found her strangled to death on her bed in the Tabor Lane cottage on Monday, shortly before noon. Detectives suspect Lori's killer is someone she knew.
