17 Dec 1955: George A. Hartnett, 67, 1501 Elm Street, died this morning in Good Samaritan Hospital of complications resulting from a broken hip suffered a week ago. A retired machinist, he was a member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church and the Holy Name Society. He leaves his wife, Elizabeth; two sons, George B. and Robert D., both of Lebanon; three daughters, Mildred, wife of Paul Harter, and Rosemary, wife of Henry Shott, both of Lebanon, and Johanna, wife of Shirk Folmer, Cleona. Also surviving are nine grandchildren; three brothers, John and
James, both of Lebanon, and the Rev. Robert Hartnett, pastor of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Lancaster; three sisters, Amelia, wife of James Murray, Lebanon; Mary, wife of John Murphy, and Miss Gertrude, both of Lancaster. [Lebanon Daily News]

21 Dec 1955: Funeral services for George A. Hartnett, 1501 Elm Street, were held this morning from Thompson's Funeral Home, 126 South Ninth Street. Rev. Robert Hartnett, son of the deceased, conducted a Requiem High Mass at St. Mary's Catholic Church following the services. Burial was in Holy Cross Cemetery. Pallbearers, grandsons and sons-in-law of Hartnett, were: Paul and Thomas Harter, Shirk Folmer, Henry Shott, Bruce Krall and Robert Hartnett. P. H. Thompson's sons were in charge.
