James L. Driscoll, 78, passed away June 4, 2011. Survived by his wife of 54 years, Janice Driscoll; children, Paula (James) Loseke of Pueblo, Becky (Mike) Cafasso of Pueblo, and Andy (Renee) Driscoll of Orlando, Fla.; grandchildren, Josh (Simone) Cafasso, Meghann Loseke, Jake Driscoll, Heather (Brian) Inglis, Dana Driscoll, Barry Loseke, Sabret and Gitana Cafasso; numerous nieces, nephews and special friends. Also survived by his dog, Doozie. Preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Violet Driscoll; and brother, Donald Driscoll. Jim was born in Pueblo on June 14, 1932. He attended St. Leander's Catholic School and Centennial High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and was stationed at Barbers Point in Honolulu, Hawaii, during the Korean Conflict. Following his military service, Jim graduated from Pueblo Junior College, Colorado State Hospital Medical Technology Program and completed his bachelor of science and master's degrees at Western State College. While working on a national science project at Western State College, he contracted polio. He returned to Pueblo and was the chief medical technologist at St. Mary-Corwin Hospital for eight years, taught two years at Sisters of Charity Postulance Program and taught biology for 22 years at Central High School. He inspired countless students to go into the medical professions. Jim enjoyed the outdoors and his greatest daily joy was visiting with friends in his morning coffee club. Jim was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, uncle, teacher and friend, and will be greatly missed. Many thanks to the Sangre de Cristo Hospice and Belmont Senior Care for their loving care and support. Special thank you for the guidance and expertise from the staff of Montgomery & Steward Funeral Directors. There will be no viewing. Cremation, Montgomery & Steward Crematorium. Memorial service, 4 p.m. Tuesday, June 7, 2011, in the Montgomery & Steward Chapel with Monsignor Tom Adrians officiating, concluding with military honors by Pueblo Veterans Ritual Team. The family will greet in the funeral home banquet hall following the services. The family respectfully requests the omission of food and flowers.
