He is the son of the late Joseph F. Butala and Catherine H. Bublich Butala of Dillon, Mont. James was born on July 15, 1938, in Butte, Mont. He grew up in Butte and Dillon, Mont., working for Safeway Stores in both cities. He lived in Helena, where he worked at the VA hospital. He later moved to Twin Falls, were he worked for Interstate Amusement Corporation. He then moved to Salt Lake, where he worked at the VA Hospital and for St. Joseph Villa as the manager at the assisted living facility. Jimmy made many friends during those years and was known for his kindness and generosity and his great sense of humor. As he was reaching retirement age, he moved back to Twin Falls.
James is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Joe; and sister, Betty Ann. He is survived by sons, Michael and Martin; sisters, Helen Graham of Boise, Cathy Roper Howard (Merlin) of Twin Falls and Rose Marie Childs (Les) of Salt Lake City, Utah; and numerous nieces and nephews.
We as a family are very grateful for the tender care he received from the staff at Desert Rose.
The funeral will be held at 12:10 p.m. Friday, June 17, at St. Rose Catholic Church in Dillon, Mont. Burial will be at the Mountain View Cemetery in Dillon.
