Funeral services for Harry Thomas Reed, 88, of Corrigan were held in the Corrigan Funeral Home Chapel in Corrigan.

Interment followed in Union Springs Cemetery in Corrigan, with military honors provided by Veterans of Foreign War Post 8568 of Livingston.

Mr. Reed was born April 2, 1922 in Tipton, Ind. and died Jan. 17, 2011, in Lufkin.

He proudly served his country in United States Coast Guard. He played semi-pro baseball for many years; playing for The Lufkin Foresters, Plymouth Oilers, Houston Buffalos, and he also playing for the Coast Guard. He served in the Coast Guard during World War II, stationed in Kauai, Hawaii from 1942-1946.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter Reed and Marie (Spay) Reed and brothers, Kenneth Reed and Lewis Reed.

He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Mike Murphy of Corrigan, Martha and Eddie Butler of Redland and Pamela and Wharton Foster of Tyler; sisters and brothers-in-law, Naomi and Jack Peter of Corpus Christi and Wanda and Jim Coppenger of Pensacola, Fla.; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends.

Corrigan Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
