Donald I. Mars

Age 84 Of St. Paul Dad was a true American hero, a foster child who left school to join the Navy for WWII. Returned for the Korean War. Spent his career in the service of the citizens of St. Paul as a police officer. The only SPPD officer to return after retirement to volunteer with the police reserve program. Dad eventually died of a broken heart, but is in a happier place with Mom and son, Danny. Dad, we love you and will miss you. Survived by children, Dave (Diane), Donna (Jim) DuBois, Debbie (Mike) Johnson, Dennis (Cindy), Diane (Jerry) Skorpak and Denise (Del) Gaffaney; also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren. A special thanks to Denise, who was dad's primary caregiver for his last years. Visitation Wed at 10AM and Mass at 11 AM at St. Paul's Cathedral.
