U.S. Congressman. Self educated, he engaged in agricultural pursuits and later settled in the Oklahoma Territory in 1893. Successful in stock raising, he became interested in politics and was elected as a Republican to the Sixty-seventh Congress, serving (1921-23). An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he relocated to California and while on a mining trip northeast of Quincy, California, he disappeared during a blizzard and was later found dead in a snowbank.
