Mr. Joseph L. Ray, 90, of Madisonville, Kentucky passed away at 6:20 A.M., Monday, June 1, 2009 at the Regional Medical Center in Madisonville.

He was born February 10, 1919 in Hopkins County, KY to the late Charles and Mabel Brown Ray. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Juanita Wilkey and Nina Hill and three brothers, Robert, Edgar and Raymond Ray.

Mr. Ray was a member of Earlington United Methodist Church and a Kentucky Colonel. He was a Navy WW II Veteran and Regional Warehouse Supervisor for Island Creek Coal Company. Mr. Ray served on the Earlington City Council for several years.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Laura Mullen Ray of Madisonville; two sons, John Ray of Madisonville and Alan (Karen) Ray of Owensboro, KY; two sisters, Lois (Don) Rankin of Greensboro, NC and Loudean Young; three grandchildren, Jon (Kristi) Wells, Jenna (Andy) Meserve and Emily (Ryan) Martin and six great grandchildren.

Graveside services with full military rites were held at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, June 3rd at the Oakwood Cemetery in Earlington, KY with Bro. Ralph Martinez officiating.

There was no visitation.
