Opal Lucille Hannah Merrell, age 86, formerly of Jonesboro and Walnut Ridge, Ark., died Sunday, June 5, 2011, at Yavapai Regional Medical Center in Prescott, Ariz. She was born Nov. 11, 1924, in Jonesboro, Ark.
Lucille was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Ben J. Merrell. The family moved to Prescott Valley, Ariz., in 1979.
Her surviving children and their spouses are Sherlyne and Barry Hall of Sedona, Ariz.; Janette and Paul Smith of Prescott Valley; Patti and Carl Cox of Prescott Valley; and Phil and Kim Merrell of Prescott Valley. She is also survived by grandchildren Benjamin and Timothy Hall, Jeffrey Smith, Jana Smith Rea, Daniel and Bryan Cox and Benjamin and Jessica Merrell; great-grandson Joseph Hall; and sisters Charlene Melton of Independence, Mo., and Helen Davidoski of Crowley, Texas.
She will be greatly missed and the void she left will never be filled.
Lucille was a beloved member of First Southern Baptist Church of Prescott Valley. The funeral service will be in the church facilities at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 9, 2011. The church is located just off Highway 69 at 2820 N. Pleasant View Drive. Burial service will be at Heritage Memorial Park in Dewey.
