Lester R. Jeffers Sr.

Lester R. Jeffers Sr., 70, of Shelbyville died Friday, May 27, 2011, at Major Hospital.

Born April 7, 1941, in Cincinnati, Ohio, he was the son of Sherman and Arminda (Lawson) Jeffers. He married Judith Patterson on Nov. 28, 1987, and she survives.

Other survivors include children, Deron Jeffers and Diane (husband, Dean) Saxon, both of Cincinnati, and Tiffany Behne, Christina (fiancé Jeff Foster) McIntyre and Nichole (husband, Jimmy) Cooper, all of Shelbyville; sister, Doris Gauche of Cincinnati; niece, Teri Batchelor of Cincinnati; great-neice Terra (husband, Kevin) Weaver of Cincinnati; grandchildren, Austin Behne, Mason Palmer, Kaeden Palmer, Dylan Cooper, Tanner Cooper, Chad Davidson, Lance Davidson, Jessica Brown, Dean Saxon and Daryl Saxon; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Lester Jeffers Jr.; a brother, Ronald Dean Jeffers; and a sister, Audrey Jeffers.

Mr. Jeffers was a high school graduate and a U.S. Army veteran who had lived in this area for 22 years, having previously lived in Cincinnati.

He had been employed as a supervisor at Nadac Sanyko of Shelbyville for 13 years at the time of his death.

Mr. Jeffers was a member of Landmark Baptist Church of Cincinnati and of the Shelbyville Eagles Lodge.

Lester loved fishing, betting on the horses at Indiana Downs and playing Texas Hold 'em poker at Indiana Live! Casino.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association in care of the funeral home.
