Universalist Minister. Born in Massachusetts, the son of Jonathan and Huldah (Davis) Bacon, his family lived in Fulton County, New York, and in 1842 he went to Bourbon County, Kentucky, where he married Elizabeth Roseberry and worked as a schoolteacher for seven years. They moved to Ohio in 1849 and he began preaching in 1850. Successful in ministry, in 1855 he started working for the Universalist publication, "The Star in the West," serving in the Cincinatti area for 47 years. He was also a county clerk and an auditor for Hamilton County, and he managed the estate of the Longworth family. Respected as an early abolitionist and an advocate for temperance, he moved to Chicago in 1896.
