Albert R. Raines
Albert Roy Raines, 82, of Riverton, died Monday, Jan. 21, 2002, at his residence.
Mr. Raines was born Feb. 2, 1919, in Riverton, a son of the late Ora Martin Raines and Mamie Catheryn Thompson.
He had never married.
Surviving are a sister, Gladys Lawrence, Riverton; a brother, Hubert Raines, Riverton; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Berlin Raines, Paul Raines, Otis M. Raines and Owen J. Raines.
Mr. Raines retired after 40 years as a teacher from Pendleton County Schools. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during World War II. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion.
He attended Valley Chapel United Methodist Church.
Funeral Arrangements: Friends will be received at Valley Chapel United Methodist Church today from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be at the church Wednesday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Barbara Rexroad officiating. Interment will follow in North Fork Memorial Cemetery in Riverton. Memorial donations may be made to Grant Memorial Hospice or Valley Chapel United Methodist Church. Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin is in charge of the arrangements.
