OGDEN – Karl G. Ackerman passed away peacefully, Monday, June 11, 2007 at home with his family.

He was born February 18, 1923, in Sodra Sandsjo, Sweden, to Knut and Nina Ackerman.

In 1940 he enlisted in the Royal Swedish Navy and was stationed in Stockholm where he met his wife to be, Anna-Greta Eklund. They were married May 20, 1945. They had two children and as a family immigrated to America in 1953 and settled in North Ogden where they raised their family.

Karl became a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on July 9, 1959. He had an unwavering testimony and his church membership was very important to him. He was a High Priest in the Lorin Farr 3rd Ward and served in several callings. Karl's wife, Anna, passed away on March 14, 1994. He married Virginia Howell on September 17, 1995 and they were later sealed in the Ogden Temple.

Karl enjoyed life and felt everyone he met was a friend. He was a successful real estate salesman for 35 years and also owned and operated three businesses, but his passion was modern art and racing pigeons. He also enjoyed traveling, sports, walking, bridge and chess.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia; his daughter, Rika (David) Darby of Kaysville; his sisters, Ingrid Kvarnstrom, Bengta Peterson and Lena Nyren, of Sweden; his step-children, Cliphane, Celeste and Scott; six grandchildren, Nina, Katie, Angie, Bree, Amy, Andy Jr., and step-grandchildren, Casey, Danny, Dustin and Brandon. He also had five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Anna; sister, Elsa Marie Dickman; and his son, Andy K. Ackerman.
