Beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Rex T. Harris, 81, passed away on June 7, 2011 in Provo.

Born January 4, 1930 in Delta, UT to Edward Daniel and Cora Forster Harris. Raised in Delta, the fourth of seven children.

Married his sweetheart Lois Carling on February 6, 1952 in Salt Lake Temple. They shared fifty-nine wonderful years together; the parents of five children: Tina (Mike) Nielson; Gary Harris; Dan (Sharon) Harris; Steven Harris; and Maria (Tim) Shamanski. They have eighteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

Rex served in Korean War as medic for the Army. Worked as a lineman for Utah Power and Light for thirty-two years. Had a love for gems and minerals, and was a owner of the Red Beryl Mine for thirty-six years, and co-owner of Tina's Jewelry and Minerals for fifteen years. Very well known and respected in international gem and mineral world.

Each October, Rex looked forward to the deer hunt; an avid hunter, loved to hunt with his brothers, sons and grandsons. Loved the mountains and spent a great deal of time looking for deer, cutting Christmas trees, cedar posts, and fire wood.

Rex possessed the rare quality of being able to make a fast friend of almost anyone he met. Loved telling jokes and stories to anyone. He would make one laugh, if not from his humorous stories, from his contagious laugh. The world will be a lesser and much more quiet place without him. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

Survived by wife, children and grandchildren; brothers and sisters: Mark (Luree) Harris; Robert (Iris) Harris; and Fran (Wes) Cummins; brothers and sisters-in-laws: Emma Lou Harris; Chad (LuDean) Carling; Sharon Stewart; and Charles (Janet) Carling. Many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents; brothers: John and Edward; sister: Anna Beth; daughter-in-law: Toni Blanch Harris; grandson: Robbie Harris; and a granddaughter: Tori Schmanski.

Funeral services will be held on Monday June 13, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the Delta Stake Center, 125 South White Sage Avenue, Delta. A viewing will be held prior to the funeral from 9:00-10:30 a.m. and Sunday evening at Nickle Mortuary, 190 South Center Street, Delta, from 6:00-8:00 p.m.
Burial: Delta Cemetery.
