U.S. Congressman. He graduated from Wabash College, in 1854, studied law at Harvard University, was admitted to the bar in 1859 and commenced to practice law in Fort Wayne, Indiana. In 1875, he was elected as a Democrat to the Forty-fourth and Forty-fifth, serving until 1879. After his term, he resumed the practice of law until his death at age 60.
