Indian Wars Medal of Honor Recipient. He served as a First Sergeant in the US Army, Company L, 5th US Cavalry. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for action in the Arizona Territory during 1872-74. His citation reads "Gallantry in actions with Apaches."
