"In 1890 William Walker of Odd deeded to the Baptist Congregation one acre of land at Odd, which later came to be known as the Mountain-Valley Church and Cemetery, and in more recent years has come to be known as Odd Missionary Church and Odd Cemetery, a number of Walkers are buried in this cemetery.
In the early 1900's William operated a store at Odd in vicinity of the present day Jack Bryant Place. The financial statement of Raleigh County for fiscal year 1899, ending June 30, 1900, published in Beckley newspaper Aug. 30, 1900 listed William Walker received 17.00 for jury duty. He and Sarah are buried in Walker cemetery on a hill back of the Jack Bryant Place."
NOTE: This Jack Bryant place was the name at the time that Glennis wrote the description - it has been a number of years since and may not be called such presently.

Saturday morning at 6 o'clock death entered a Mabscott home and claimed as its victim William A Walker, one of Raleigh county's well known and most highly respected citizens.
Mr Walker had for the past several years resided at Mabscott, where he was engaged in the mercantile business, but prior to his removal to Mabscott, he lived at Odd, where for many years he was engaged in the mercantile and milling business. He was one of the pioneer merchants of that section and was known and respected throughout that part of the county for his honesty and genial disposition. His home was always open to his friends and for years his store was the principal center of the section, a church and post office, the only only in that part of the country a quarter of a century ago, were the principal meeting places in addition to his store, where the people gathered to hear the gospel preached and also to gather or relate the news of the neighborhood. These days are gone, but with the passing of this excellent old man, they are recalled again.
Mr Walker had been a sufferer from cancer of the stomach for the past several months and with a view of obtaining relief, he was taken to a Bluefield hospital some weeks ago, but his condition was not improved and he was brought back to his home last Wednesday.
He was 66 years of age and is survived by his wife, who was formerly Miss Elizabeth Dunn, and four daughters and two sons: viz: Mrs E B Gilliam, Raven, Va; Mrs M S Bower, Mrs A L Lilly and Miss Mollie Walker, of Mabscott; and A J Walker, Odd; Geo Walker, Mabscott. Also one brother, Geo W Walker, of La Grande, Ore, and one sister, Mrs William Meadows, of True, Summers county, survive.
The funeral services were conducted at his old home at Odd on Sunday, where his remains were laid to rest beside those of his father, one brother, one daughter, and other immediate relatives, to await the Judgment Day.
