MANTEO - Mrs. Elizabeth Webb Etheridge, 81, retired schoolteacher and resident of Manteo for 58 years, died Friday [Nov. 6, 1964] at 4 p.m. in Albemarle Hospital, Elizabeth City, after an illness of 3 weeks.
She was a native of Chowan County, a daughter of John And Mrs. Frances Monroe Webb, and the widow of Robert Bruce Etheridge who died Oct. 19. She was a member of Manteo Baptist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Matilda Etheridge Inge of Manteo; two sisters, Mrs. J.B. Spilman of Greenville and Mrs. Penelope Bass of Newport News, Va.; a brother, W.S. Webb of Norfolk; a half-sister, Mrs. W.H. Dail of Edenton; a half-brother, Craig Haste of Newport News; a granddaughter, a grandson and a great-granddaughter.
A funeral service will be conducted Sunday in Etheridge Cemetery by the Rev. William S. Brown of Manteo Baptist Church. Twiford Funeral Home has charge.
