GEO. BURROUGHS DIES SATURDAY

Prominent Ellensburg Merchant Passes Away After Long Illness, Due to Heart Trouble.

Last Saturday morning at 4:15 o'clock one of Ellensburg's most prominent merchants George Burroughs passed quietly away at his home at 907 East Second street.

His death culminated a long illness of heart trouble lasting for more than a year.

Mr. Burroughs has been a clothing store merchant in Ellensburg for more than 20 years and has been active in many local enterprises.

He was a charter member of the local Rotary club, a member of the Elks, and a former director of the Chamber of Commerce.

He was also an active member of the Presbyterian church.

Those who survive Mr. Burroughs sad death beside his widow are his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Burroughs of Ellensburg; his two brothers, W. Moreley of Ellensburg and C. W. Burroughs of Montreal; his two sisters, Mrs. F. D. Gibson of Vancouver, B. C. ; and Mrs. George Friend of Ellensburg; and his one daughter, Gertrude of Ellensburg.

Mr. Burroughs was born February 27, 1877, in Ottawa, Canada, and on February 5, 1908, he married Maude Gage of Seattle.

The funeral was held Monday afternoon at the Honeycutt chapel.

Rev. Olin M. Graham officiated at the services and the Elks had charge of the graveside services.
