Joseph A. Walas 1914 - 2002 INDIAN ORCHARD - Joseph A. Walas, 87, of 210 Pasco Road, Indian Orchard, died Saturday in a local nursing home. Born in Chicopee, he resided in the Indian Orchard section of Springfield for many years. He was employed at the F.W. Sickles, Co., of Chicopee for 40 years, and at Art Cement Products of Wilbraham for 10 years. He retired in 1981. He was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Church in Ludlow. He is survived by; his wife, Blanche (Roberge) Walas; a daughter, Cecile Ramsey, of Ludlow; two sisters, Alma Marsh of Chicopee and Helen Stroff of Mineola, NY; and five grandsons. He was predeceased by a daughter, Annette Desrosiers, who died in January of this year. The funeral will be Wednesday from the Ratell Funeral Home at 8:00 a.m., with a Mass of the Resurrection at St. John the Baptist Church at 9:00 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Aloysius Cemetery, Indian Orchard.
