Vera Lee Gammons Hamm, 81, of Stuart, died Monday, December 13, 2004, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, N.C.

She was born in Patrick County on January 20, 1923 to the late Robert and Emma Frye Gammons. She was also preceded in death by a son, Buster Wade Hamm; a granddaughter, Vera Lee Hamm; three brothers, Raymond Gammons, Manuel Gammons and Lowell Gammons; and a sister, Bessie Horton.

She was a member of Stateline Primitive Baptist Church.

Surviving are her husband of 63 years, Odell Hamm of the home; eight children, Sandra Hill and Shirley Dalton, both of Westfield, N.C., Barbara Hiatt of Ararat, Clayton Hamm and Tommy Hamm, both of Stuart, James Hamm of Oak Ridge, N.C., Charles Hamm and Peggy Davis, both of Stuart; 17 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Stateline Primitive Baptist Church. Elders John Calhoun and J.H. Keaton and the Rev. Mark Wright will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends tonight (Wednesday) from 6 to 8 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart.
