Excerpt from A Guide to the Memorials of Bruton Parish Church: Lady Christina eloped to Edinburgh on April 29, 1770 and married Cyrus Griffin of Richmond County, Virginia. Griffin was a student at Edinburgh University and later studied law at the Middle Temple in London. In 1788 he served as the last president of the Continental Congress.
